sermon notes
went to christian life austin, the theme was about living intentionally. we don't just fall into a good career, a good relationship, a good business. we spend time to nurture our hearts.
i learned about the prayer that Jabez prayed in 1 Chronicles 4:9.
the prayer:
- starts wtih a promise – "oh, that you would bless me"
- influence and ministry – "and enlarge my territory"
- asks for God's presence – "Let your hand be with me
- protection – "and keep me from harm, so i will be free from pain"
i find it hard to pray consistently, i've been falling asleep in bed before i finish my prayers. that tells a lot about my beliefs in the importance and power of prayer. the above is a good template to start my prayers, i had an idea of an app that tracks prayers so you can look back and see how many of them were answered, and also remind yourself to pray for people, both loved ones and strangers.
